West Valley College student, Jon Singley, founded Blue Spruce Landscape in April 1977 at the age of 18. Jon gained his early landscape experience by taking vocational education courses at his high school and working for a variety of landscape companies in the San Jose area. In September 1978, Jon transferred to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. Upon completing his degree in 1982, he returned to San Jose and resumed his construction career.
Today, Blue Spruce has grown into an award-winning company of 35 employees who bring exceptional skills to each of our projects. Employee longevity and expertise are our most important assets. These assets enable Blue Spruce to work as a high-performing team and set us apart from many other landscape and construction firms.
At Blue Spruce Landscape, we are committed to enhancing the professionalism of the landscape industry and are active in our community and in the industry to achieve that end. Jon has served on the executive board of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the California Landscape Contractor’s Association (CLCA) for six years and was Chapter President in 1999. He also has served on CLCA's State Board for the last five years and served as State President in 2004. Jon has served on the Board of Directors for the California Coalition for Construction in the Classroom and currently serves a board member for Ag Industry Council and Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
